This book aims to offer trainees a clear understanding of the core knowledge required for examination success and incorporates new material reflecting recent developments and the new examination
This book is aimed at those in the early stages of their surgical career. It covers key topics in clinical surgery and basic sciences, including critical care, pharmacology and pathology and is based upon the curriculum for the intercollegiate MRCS examination.
Text is presented in a concise and easily digestible format, with up-to date content relevant to the modern day surgical trainee (for example, the sections on laparoscopic surgery and enhanced recovery programmes). The text is supported by interesting and informative pictures and diagrams.
Clinical presentations in all of the major surgical subspecialties are included in varying amounts of detail; this is sufficient and appropriate for the junior surgical trainee who needs a broad base of knowledge. Common presentations, such as hernias are covered in greater detail than highly specialist areas. Every chapter is supplemented with a reading list if further detail is required
The Pharmacology and Radiology chapters are an example of how compared to similar titles, this book is unique in its breadth. However everything covered in it is essential knowledge for both parts of the MRCS examination.
The size, portability and quality of the content makes this book an invaluable study aid for any aspiring surgeon.
