Groin pain characteristics and recurrence rates: three-year results of a randomized controlled trial comparing self-gripping Progrip mesh and sutured polypropylene mesh for open inguinal hernia repair. Ann Surg 2018; 267: 1029-1033.

Authors: Zwaans WA, Verhagen T, Wouters L, Loos M, Roumen R, Scheltinga M et al.
Some 274 patients were assessed three years after surgery. The risk of hernia recurrence was 11.5% after Progrip, compared to 5 per cent after standard mesh, P=0.05. Mesh-related symptoms and pain rates were similar.Pubmed Link
