Overall healing was better after sphincterotomy (94%) than botulinum and diltiazem (65%; P<0.001) in this study that included 99 patients. Surgery was particularly beneficial in patients who had a fissure for over a year. Incontinence scores, however, were higher after surgery (P=0.04).
