Some 281 legs (81 per cent of original study), were reviewed at median of five years. Both treatments improved symptoms and quality of life equally. Recurrence rates were 45 per cent after EVLA and 54 per cent after stripping (P=0.15). Recurrence was more common at the saphenofemoral junction after EVLA (P<0.001).
