Conclusion

Short term outcomes were compared in this study that included 1057 patients. Laparoscopic surgery took a mean of 52min longer, but was associated with less blood loss (P<0.001), reduced morbidity (14.3 versus 22.3 per cent) and shorter hospital stay.
